Sandon Hall remains the private ancestral home of the Earls of Harrowby, so the opportunity to see behind its grand doors are few and far between. The Harrowby family are opening their doors and inviting visitors to do just that – with tours of both the 1852 house and its stunning gardens now available - the perfect present for a loved one or a treat for yourself!

The house tour will offer a glimpse into elegant country house interiors and regale the history of the hall which the family that has called home for over 200 years. Historical highlights to include the story of the stunning Chinese wallpaper in the Drawing Room, which pre-dates the current hall by around 100 years. It will also tell of dramatic events – such the disastrous Christmas dinner that led to the hall burning down in the 1840s; and the rather morbid tale behind the portrait of a Prime Minister that graces the Dining Room.
Then wonder around the 50 acre grounds; taking in the historical scenery. Learn about the seasonal work undertaken to ensure they reach their full glory in time for the summer wedding season.
Wellington boots or walking shoes are advised for the garden tour as it may well be soft underfoot, dependant on the weather.
