Winter House and Garden Tour with Afternoon Tea

Winter House and Garden Tour with Afternoon Tea

Visit Sandon Hall this Winter!

Sandon Hall remains the private home of the Earls of Harrowby, so the opportunity to see behind its grand doors are few and far between. The Harrowby's are opening their doors and inviting visitors to do just that – with tours of both the 1852 house and its garden available on the 17th of November with a delicious afternoon tea included in the ticket price.

The house tour will also offer a glimpse into elegant country house interiors and regale the history of the hall and the family that has called it home for over 200 years. Historical highlights to include the story of the stunning Chinese wallpaper in the Drawing Room, which pre-dates the current hall by around 100 years. It will also tell of dramatic events – such the disastrous Christmas dinner that led to the hall burning down in the 1840s; and the rather morbid tale behind the portrait of a Prime Minister that graces the Dining Room.

Our Head Gardener, Grant, will give a guided walk around the 50 acre grounds; explaining their history. Hear how the seasonal works are currently being undertaken to ensure they reach their full glory in time for the summer wedding season. Our gardening team will also tell of some exciting plans for the future as part of their 10 year redevelopment .

Wellington boots or walking shoes are advised for the garden tour as it may well be soft underfoot.

Booking is essential and tickets are priced at £30 per person and includes the house and garden tours with an afternoon tea to enjoy after. There are three slots available during the day, with each session being 3 hours long.
