What is a Micro Wedding?
A small, intimate wedding with your nearest and dearest
Micro weddings have been around for a number of years, offering a shorter, more relaxed celebration among family and friends, with a few extra personal touches. Typically, it is attended by 20β30 guests, though COVID-19 restrictions may reduce that number (please check the government website for the latest restrictions).
These weddings are popular with couples who want to have a small celebration with those closest to them, using the flexibility of a small guest list to cement their union in unique venues and with a little more extravagance (without breaking the budget).
Amid the current pandemic, micro weddings are being considered as an alternative to cancelling wedding plans. Many are also considering a small wedding now and then a larger celebration later down the line once restrictions have eased.

COVID-19 & Mini Weddings
15 people can attend your micro wedding, plus those working at your wedding
Government guidelines for weddings have put a limit on the number of guests you can have. This will be reassessed periodically and there are slightly different rules based on where in the UK your mini wedding is and depending on the Tier the venue is in. The following is based on the latest guidance from October 2020. Please check the government website for the latest restrictions.
As a note on this guidance, You should aim not to travel to regions within a higher Tier and non-essential travel to or from Tier 3 should be avoided.
For Tier 1 and Tier 2 regions of England, that means ceremonies and receptions can be attended by up to 15 people. Importantly, while this includes the couple and guests, it does not include venue staff or those working at your mini wedding, such as photographers or officiants. For Tier 3 regions of England, ceremonies can still go ahead with 15 people but receptions will not be permitted.
Sandon Hall has been made completely COVID Secure, following all cleaning and distancing guidelines to make it easy for you to hold your mini wedding throughout our venue without having to worry. We’ll work with you to ensure all guidelines are followed by your guests, including providing access to hand sanitising and hand washing facilities.
