What’s On?
The Great British Drive In will be showing movies 6 days a week, with multiple showings per day. Check the official website or the Facebook page for listings and to book tickets.
A varied programme of movies is planned, including family favourites, classics, documentaries and sing-a-longs. You can enjoy everything from Rocketman and Toy Story to Forrest Gump, Whiplash and Halloween. More movies will be added over the coming months so check back to see which flicks are next!
The Set Up: Screen & Snacks
Sandon Hall was chosen as the perfect venue, given it’s spacious 400 acres of impressive countryside estate. A 100 square meter LED screen will be used to show the films all summer long. Using this high quality display will ensure that movies are as crisp and clear in the day as they are at night.
The Drive In has room for 160 cars and is being equipped with food and beverage providers who’ll be able to deliver to guests in situ. If glorious summer weather reigns, then guests are encouraged to bring along deck chairs to enjoy food and a film safely outdoors. If there are a few clouds then you can sit safely in the comfort of your own car – convertibles encouraged!
From Tuesday to Wednesday each week, executive chef of Funicular Productions will be providing delicious delights for movie-goers. Thursday through Sunday, The Great British Drive In has partnered with the fine dining street food spectacular that is Digbeth Dining Club to cater for your movie night. Their full menu of delicious treats, snacks and sumptuous meals will be announced soon!
Behind The Great British Drive In
A collective of event organisers have come together to create the ultimate drive-in experience at Sandon Hall. With the numerous cancellations of weddings, parties and all variety of events due to the pandemic, the group sought out a new way to entertain guests and put their skills and passion to good use.
Organisers Craig Wilkinson, a producer and Head of Programming at The Great British Drive In, and Ed Myhill, a Stafford local, teamed up with Melissa Penn, Commercial Director at Sandon Hall, to put together this event experience.
A number of industry professionals have partnered with Chris, Ed and Melissa to host The Great British Drive In. Their experience spans everything needed to put on the best of events, from international theatre production and corporate events to audio visuals and graphic design, plus so much more.
